Our story

I designed amatoe for myself, and for women who move through full days without realizing how far they’ve gone. They’re for the 10K-step days, the morning coffee-to-evening opera plans, and the outfits that need shoes to keep up.

A serious foot injury and a decade of NYC life, sport, and long office days have taught me a lot about what feet need, and what women need to feel like themselves. 

Too many shoes made with feet in mind forget that women have taste. And too many beautiful shoes forget that our feet have to carry us.

amatoe is not about making “comfort shoes” look better. It is about designing beautiful shoes around the reality of real feet, long days, and city movement.

The Maxey is our first silhouette: a modern leather lace-up flat with a spacious toe box, lightweight cushioning, and a zero-drop sole. amatoe is not fast fashion, and it is not priced like fast fashion. Each pair is handmade in Portugal in small batches with soft leather, lightweight cushioning, and a durable rubber outsole. They’re shoes that are built slowly, priced honestly, and designed to be worn often.

amatoe makes rooms for your feet without asking your style to shrink.
